The sample scripts in FlexPDE do not match the scripts given in Backstrom's book Simple Fields of Physics. I would rather not have to type in each script. So: has anyone done this already and would be willing to share the collection? Also: is there a script upload/download user area on this Web site? |

I have contacted Professor Backstrom about supplying us with an updated copy of his scripts. I will update you when I hear back from him. |

Professor Backstrom is of the opinion that passing through the fingers is a good way to get information to the brain. He says, "I think running a number of scripts adds nothing to your understanding of PDEs. If you are going to solve problems of your own, it is essential to understand every line in the script, so you may just as well type it yourself." Nevertheless, he has agreed to let us post the scripts on our website. Go to www.pdesolutions.com/bookstore.html and follow the link at the bottom of the book description.

Thank you so much. I have Simple Fields of Physics and have just now purchased from Amazon Simple Deformation and Vibration. The sample scripts are very helpful; I do make a point of varying the parameters to get a feel for the solutions. Also, please add me to your list of purchasers for version 6 of FlexPDE when it comes out in January! |
