Please help

Postby compxci on Sat Jan 28, 2012 1:47 pm

I have attached a coded portion of my project. What I wish to accomplish is, given any figure, display the modes of vibration within the "arc" of this particular figure. The aforementioned wm71c was a typo error and was corrected to emw71c. I ran the original and did some tweeking and was able to show a snapshot of one mode of vibration. It is required of me to show several modes. How do I go about doing this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

In order to display modes of vibration, you need to construct a "modal" or eigenvalue problem. In the usual case, you assume that the field components are described by the product of a spatially dependent amplitude function and a time-dependent form like exp(i*omega*t), where omega is an angular velocity. Substitute this product for your variables and expand the resulting equations. Then select "Modes=<number>" to request that FlexPDE solve an eigenvalue problem.
You should be able to find documentation of this method in numerous places, including Backstrom's books "Simple Fields" and "Waves by Finite Element Analysis".
