Hi There

Is possible, and is there an example, to transfer results from a 2d xcylinder problem into a 3D problem to form an initial guess? Also, as part of the whole process, can the 2D mesh be read in and swept around through a finite angle to represent the 3d geometry?

Thanks
Kevin

1.
TABLE input has the capability of reassigning the table coordinates (see TABLE Input in the Help Index). This would allow you to export the results of the 2D cylinder, and read them in to a 3D problem by defining the cylindrical radius and resetting the table coordinates to radius and z.

Unfortunately, when the TRANSFER facility was implemented we did not think to support this same coordinate redefinition capability, although the code to do it is rather simple. I will put this extension on the list for implementation in a future version release.

For now, you will have to use a TABLE, make the table dense, and pay the price of a large file (externally and internally).

2.
There is currently no facility to generate a 3D mesh by rotating a 2D mesh. This has been on the development list for quite a while, but has never bubbled to the top. It is still on the list, and will get done someday.
