Hello, I want to check the value of a variable around a boundary (in this case the circular boundary named "insulating boundary" in the plate region) as shown in the attached pde file. The boundary belongs to a limited region called "plate" - I intended to see the value around the circular boundary "insulating boundary", but as the plot shows, the plot is around the square boundary of the domain instead. However, if I remove the LIMITED keyword in front of the plate region, make it extrude through all 3 layers, the elevation plot is indeed taken around the circular boundary. How can I plot the value of A around the buried (limited) region? I thought of using features, but I think they're for open contours only? Thanks, Steve

You are supposed to be able to say: ELEVATION(A) as "Value of A" on "insulating boundary" on "plate bottom" to get a trace on a boundary in a surface. But I tried this and it crashes, so there must be a bug. I will have to investigate and fix it. There is currently no mechanism for plotting contours on a sidewall.

Thanks Robert, You're write it does work with on "plate top" I hadn't tried the name of a surface, but I had tried on z=5 and that didn't work... is this what you mean by plotting on sidewalls? Say for instance if I wanted to see the value of A along the middle of the curved sidewall... Funnily enough it doesn't crash for me with on "plate top" or "plate bottom". Steve |

Robert, As I said in my last message, the following command worked, and that was in version 4.0.1b ELEVATION(A) as "Value of A" on "insulating boundary" on "plate top" I've just upgraded to version 4.2.3 and I also get a crash... I hope this helps pin-point the source of the error. Steve |
