Not sure if this will solve the pbm, but make sure that the files u're trying to access (read or write) are not being used by another application, even a text editor...

The "My Documents" folder is handled very strangely by Windows, depending on which version of Windows you are running. The default for flexpde is to write export files to the same folder as the input .pde file. If you are running out of the My Documents folder, try running from a different folder. If you are specifying the output path as "My Documents\...", try leaving the path off and write to a file name in the local folder. |

Dear Robert, I have a problem in exporting results to text files too, and would be grateful if you have any suggestions. The command I am using is of the form export format "#t #b #1" file="1 ignition.txt" When I first open Flex there are no problems, but after running scripts for a while this error is returned with increasing frequency: 'Can't open export file' This can be corrected initially by closing and reopening Flex, but eventually only by restarting the computer. I always close the files being written to before running the script. Both the exported text files and the script are saved outside of My Documents, on C drive. I'm working with Flex 2.21b ... perhaps this problem has been encountered and solved in subsequent versions? Best regards Fiona

I can't reproduce this behavior with version 2.22c. I have no notes indicating a repair of this kind of error (but I will point out that version 2 is now six years old and I no longer have debugging facilities for it). It sounds like it's running out of file descriptors, but that shouldn't happen with modern systems. What operating system are you running? |

Sorry to be slow in reply ... I'm using XP Professional. If it helps to ID what be wrong, I've since noticed that the problem crops up less frequently if the time interval at which data are requested is longer (i.e. fewer data points written to the file). |
