Hello

Is it possible to import a 3-D model from Autocad into FlexPde? My first attempt was to create a cube in AutoCad and import it into FlexPde. The results was a square in FlexPde without layers or surfaces.

Hi:
I asked the question before. There are only possible to import a DXF file for 2D.
I would like to know if is will be possible in future versions.

The 3D mesh generator used in FlexPDE version 3 is based on an extrusion model. A 2D figure of arbitrary complexity is extended in the Z dimension and cut by dividing surfaces.

FlexPDE can read a 2D DXF file from AutoCad as the basis of the extrusion, but it cannot map a 3D AutoCad file into the extrusion model.

It is possible that this situation will change in the future, as the 3D mesh generator is currently undergoing extensive revision. But a specific project to import 3D AutoCad files is not currently underway.

For the time being, you will have to import the 2D DXF outline and create the extrusion surfaces manually.
