In the 3D_bimetal example, the elastic tensor is defined by:
G = E/((1+nu)*(1-2*nu))
C11 = G*(1-nu)
C12 = G*nu
C13 = G*nu
C22 = G*(1-nu)
C23 = G*nu
C33 = G*(1-nu)
C44 = G*(1-2*nu)/2
b = G*alpha*(1+nu)

Combine the 1st and the last equations, we get
b=alpha*E/(1-2*nu)

Isn't the equation supposed to be
b=alpha*E/(1-nu) ?

The coefficient "b" is to relate stress and thermal mismatch. In cases where thermal mismatch dominates, I would get nearly twice the stress unless I changed the equations in the example.

Our sample problems are intended to be examples of the use FlexPDE, not definitive references on the fields of application.

It is expected that users will define equations and parameters that are appropriate for the model they are addressing.

If you want to use different constitutive relations, you are free to do so.
