Hi RGN,

Please find attached my script and the error msg. I have had this problem before. Please check my thread 'CG Failed'. I am again back on this problem after a vacation and having the same problem again. I have done what you suggested before (increased NGRID to 1024), but still I get this error after running the script for t=4.672e-9 sec. Please advice.

Regards,

JM

I'm not sure what you are seeing, but when I run this problem I get the attached display.
After a strong pulse at 0.15 ns, it degenerates to chaos and stays that way.
I have tried this with different mesh densities and timestep controls, and the results track exactly (at least as far as 0.3 ns). This would indicate that the chaos is not created by the numerics, but is inherent in the equations.

Since it appears that chaos sets in at 0.2 ns, with lots of high frequency oscillations, I assume that the result at 4.6 ns is meaningless.

It took several hours to get to 0.7 ns, so you must have waited all week to get your 4.6 ns crash.
