Dear all,

I am pretty new to FlexPde and have a problem I would like to solve. I want to model a multiconductor array of ideally parallel rods. I want to solve it in the XZ or YZ plane rather that in the XY plane as usual. I'm however running into problems even if I'm only considering a single rod in a non-conducting surrounding.

The model I'm trying to evaluate is the one proposed by Massimo Vitelli (2002) using
Laplace(A)-j*omega*mu*sigma*A+j*omega*mu*sigma*surfaceIntegral(A)/area=-mu*I/Are a.

I've also posted my progress so far, so somebody can potentially give me a hint what is going wrong.

Thank you so much for your help.

Best regards,

Ingo

It would appear from the "j"s appearing in your equation that you want to do a complex field model.

FlexPDE does not directly support complex variables. You must declare the real and imaginary components as variables, and provide two equations, one for the real part and one for the imaginary part.

This means that you must manually expand the complex equation, keeping track of the real and imaginary parts, and enter the separated equations.
