Hi All I am trying to solve a steady state 1-D problem using V6 evaluation version. Attached see solver file. solver produce fractional power of negative number error. Problem is non-linear i tried few steps specified in guide like changelim, Rematrix on commands. I already know numerical solution to problem initial values are well chosen. What should i do to stop negative number. |

Your equations are horribly nonlinear. Why don't you start with something with constant coeffeicients, and see if you can get a solution. Then gradually add nonlinear effects.

I can vouch for Robert's advice. I've been working with nonlinear elasticity for many years now and have found that I have to very cautious as I venture into a new problem. Sometimes there is only one unique solution and things go fine. But, more often than not there are multiple solutions and the solution process gets confused. Often the physics of the problem will tell you whether this is likely to happen. Then you need to look for "tricks" to suppress the unwanted solutions. |
