Hello, I'm new to FlexPDE and need to model the stress in a quite complicated glass window for a vacuum chamber. I first used the conventional 2D plate equations, but it seems that this is not enough for my goal (Several materials used, 3D shape ...). Is there any example that you can recommend as a starting point to implement a 3D analysis ? I would like at least to avoid mistakes in the equations (I re-discovered stress analysis after leaving engineering school 25 years ago ...). With thanxs and regards, Thierry |

"Samples | Steady_State | Stress | 3d_Bimetal.pde" shows a 3D thermoelasticity problem. "Samples | Eigenvalues | 3D_Plate.pde" shows the vibrational modes of an unconstrained plate in 3D. Both of these problems show essentially the same equation structure. They do not include tutorials on the development of the equations, but a perusal of books in your library on Stress Analysis or Finite Element Methods for Stress Analysis should turn up some theoretical discussions.
