Hi Robert, I have model of 3 different materials ( material 1| material 2| material 3) the value at the interphase between material 2 and 3 continues ( value is 17) However, value at the interphase of material 1 and 2 is discontinuity. there are two different values at this interphase ( material 1=75, while material 2= k*75 where k present the discountinuity value). I model my work in 2-Dimensional. How could I do it. Thank you Kim |

1. if you are referring to a material parameter, all you need to do is define different values in two regions. 2. If the discontinuity is due to some kind of surface resistance, you can use the CONTACT boundary condition, which defines a flux in terms of a jump and a resistance. 3. If there is some kind of innate discontinuity like a work function, you might be able to redefine your system variable as something that is truly continuous at the boundary, as perhaps U=U1*k, with k varying by region. If k is regionally constant, then grad(U) is the same as grad(U1), etc. The particulars of this depend on the actual physics of your problem. |
