Dear Mr. Nelson,

I'm currently investigating temperature distributions in awkward laser crystals. Due to lack of symmetry concerning both pump light distribution (heating) and cooling geometry, the problem can not be approximated by a 2D cut.
The result of this study shall be the optical path difference of beams running through that crystal on a triangularly shaped path. To calculate this pathlength, I use line integrals on features representing the beam path, in a staged evaluation to move the feature (for the 2d case).
Is there any way to integrate over defined features within a 3D medium? Or can I only define them on surfaces? Or is there an estimate when such a "feature" might be available?

Thanks a lot
Klaus

You can take Elevation plots on arbitrary lines in 3D, and these plots will report the integral of the plotted quantity along the plot path.

You cannot at this time plot on a broken path with this method, nor can you form integrals producing computationally accessible results on arbitrary paths.

We will add these facilities to our development list, but I can't give an estimated implementation date.
