How we can use Val, and Eval in 1D problems?
Apparently these functions request a pair of
coordinates as (x,y), but we have no y coordinate
here.

This is an oversight in the parsing tables. They were not modified to accept a single coordinate in the VAL and EVAL calls.

I will fix this in the v5.0.3 release, but in the meantime, you can simply provide a phoney second coordinate. Zero, for example.
